Flingern wurde schon 1193 urkundlich erwähnt, und war früher ein traditionelles Arbeiterviertel. Der Stadtteil hat sich in den letzten Jahren ständig verändert. Die Fläche beträgt ca. 4,2km² mit 30.500 Einwohner, und ist die Heimat des Traditionsvereins "Fortuna 95" Düsseldorf.

In meinem Personalausweis steht zwar als Geburtsort Düsseldorf, aber im Herzen bin ich immer zuerst ein „Flingeraner“.

Ich lebe immer noch in Flingern, aber nicht mehr am alten Ort. Der wurde vor vielen Jahren abgerissen wo heute Siedlungshäuser stehen.

Yo nací el 26 de Noviembre de 1951 en la tercera Generación "Flingern".
Nieto del hortelano independiente y del carbón comerciante Hubert Fernando Kroell * 1876, * e hijo de Pedro Krüll 09/17/1909, jardinero de la ciudad de Duesseldorf durante 25 años.
